Property Lawyer / Conveyancer

At Biz Lawyers and Advisory we pride ourselves on always putting our clients first. We are a well-established boutique law practice located in Martin Place in the city CBD specialising in property, commercial and corporate law. Working for Biz Lawyers means working as a part of a dynamic and close-knit team of professionals who are always there to support, guide and advise with timely, meaningful and valuable legal advice. Our culture is service-based and high-functioning and means you will have the opportunity to work closely with our highly experienced Principal. In contrast to larger traditional law firms, the focus is not all about billable hours, rather the actual output of work.

This role involves looking after and taking carriage of all of property related matters, including handling the entire residential and commercial conveyancing process from beginning to end.

You will focus on:
  • reviewing purchase of property contracts and providing relevant legal advice on the contracts, negotiating changes to the contract, facilitating exchange, arranging searches and preparing for settlement.
  • drafting sale of property contracts, including obtaining instructions and the relevant statutory searches, negotiating special conditions, and facilitating exchange and settlement.
  • drafting, reviewing and negotiating retail and commercial leases
  • providing our clients with legal advice
  • handling other related property matters for property developer clients such as off the plan contracts, put and call options, property development and joint venture agreements, loan documentation etc.
  • regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes

You will have:
  • A strong knowledge of commercial, corporate and residential property transactions. Interstate experience is a bonus.
  • You will be a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and a strong eye for detail and be confident to be able to establish great rapport with clients.
  • The ability to work autonomously and handle your own matters.
  • Strong time and file management skills as well as solid drafting skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a “can do” attitude and strong work ethic.
  • 1-3 years' PQE property experience

Our firm is currently growing our Wills and Estate Planning practice and are currently seeking a Wills and Estates Lawyer with 1 to 4 years of post-admission experience in Wills and Estates to join our team.

We are looking for an energetic and passionate lawyer who shares the same values and cultures of our firm to join us to and to assist our clients with their estate planning needs.

This role includes the following duties:
  • Quality Client engagement
  • Preparing Wills for simple and complex estates, including Testamentary Trust Wills, Life Estate Wills
  • Preparing Powers of Attorney documents
  • Preparing Enduring Guardianship documents
  • Preparing Advanced Care Directives
  • Preparation and drafting of Applications for Probate and affidavits and other documents supporting Probate and Letters of Administration applications
  • Assisting senior staff with Family Provision Claims in Disputed Estates and Estate Litigation matters.

We are seeking an individual who possesses the following essential requirements:
  • 1 to 4 years of post-admission experience in Wills and Estates Law
  • Highly efficient and strong organisational skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop strong positive team and client relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and solutions driven
  • Proven capability to manage tasks and multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Graduate Lawyer

  • Well-developed time and file management skills as well as solid drafting skills
